ทั้งนี้ เมื่อเดือน ม.ค.59 คณะกรรมการบริหารนโยบายพลังงาน (กบง.) มีมติลอยตัวราคา NGV แบบมีเงื่อนไข โดยให้ PTT ประกันราคาไม่เกิน 13.50 บาท/กิโลกรัม ไปอีก 6 เดือน หลังจากนั้นราคาจะปรับขึ้นลงตามความเป็นจริง โดยมองว่าในช่วงระหว่าง 6 เดือนนี้ราคา NGV มีโอกาสที่จะลดลงจากระดับ 13.50 บาท/กก. ซึ่งจะมีการประกาศราคาในทุกเดือน เนื่องจากจะมีการรายงานราคาเนื้อก๊าซฯที่ประกอบสูตรราคา NGV ทุกวันที่ 16 ของทุกเดือน
